The contract was awarded through a competitive domestic bidding process for the 400 kV GIS Substation Extension Package SS-147.

Scope of the Project

The contract involves the turnkey execution of Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) augmentation across three strategic power transmission substations.

Under the project, Vikran Engineering will undertake:

  • Engineering and detailed design
  • Manufacturing of equipment
  • Factory testing
  • Supply of GIS equipment
  • Erection and installation
  • Testing and commissioning
  • Expansion of 400/220 kV GIS bays
  • Associated electrical infrastructure and auxiliary systems

The project will be executed under two integrated contracts, covering both the supply of goods and installation services.


Project Locations

The GIS substation extension works will be carried out at three major POWER GRID substations:

  • 400/220 kV Maharaja GIS Substation – Dadra & Nagar Haveli
  • 765/400/220 kV Vadodara GIS Substation – Gujarat
  • 400/220 kV Rajah Substation – Madhya Pradesh

These substations form an important part of India’s interstate electricity transmission network and are critical for ensuring uninterrupted power supply across multiple regions.
