Rane (Madras) Q1 FY27 Results: Revenue Rises 19%, Profit Jumps 62.5% on Strong Auto Demand and New Business Wins

Rane (Madras) Limited delivered a strong start to FY27, reporting robust revenue growth and a sharp increase in profitability for the quarter ended June 30, 2026. The company benefited from healthy demand across domestic OEMs, international markets, and the Indian aftermarket, while operational efficiencies helped offset inflationary pressures arising from the West Asian geopolitical crisis.

The Chennai-based auto components manufacturer also strengthened its long-term growth outlook by securing new business worth approximately ₹2,040 crore and announcing the acquisition of Hindustan Composites’ Friction Business through a slump sale transaction.

Q1 FY27 Financial Highlights

Rane (Madras) posted solid growth across all major financial metrics.

Particulars Q1 FY27 Q1 FY26 YoY Growth
Revenue from Operations ₹1,050.6 crore ₹884.4 crore 18.8%
EBITDA ₹95.8 crore ₹78.5 crore 22.0%
EBITDA Margin 9.1% 8.9% +24 bps
Profit Before Tax (PBT) ₹41.0 crore ₹24.8 crore 66%
Profit After Tax (PAT) ₹30.1 crore ₹18.5 crore 62.5%
Finance Cost ₹15.5 crore ₹17.0 crore -9.2%

The company maintained healthy profitability despite higher input cost pressures, supported by better operational efficiency and lower borrowing costs.

Revenue Growth Driven by Multiple Business Segments

Revenue growth was broad-based across domestic and international markets.

Domestic OEM Business

Sales to domestic Original Equipment (OE) customers increased 13%, driven primarily by:

  • Strong passenger vehicle production
  • Healthy demand from the farm tractor segment

International Business

Exports grew 24% YoY, supported by higher demand for the company’s steering products across global markets.

Indian Aftermarket

The Indian aftermarket business emerged as one of the strongest performers, recording an impressive 28% growth, reflecting increasing replacement demand and expanding distribution.

Profitability Improves Despite Inflationary Challenges

The company successfully navigated inflationary pressures arising from geopolitical tensions in West Asia.

While freight and input costs remained elevated, Rane offset these headwinds through:

  • Better fixed cost absorption
  • Operational efficiency initiatives
  • Improved manufacturing productivity

As a result:

  • EBITDA increased by 22%
  • EBITDA margin improved from 8.9% to 9.1%

Additionally, finance costs declined by 9.2% due to more cost-efficient borrowings, further supporting bottom-line growth.

₹2,040 Crore Worth of New Business Secured

One of the biggest highlights of the quarter was the company’s success in winning fresh business.

Rane secured new orders with an estimated lifetime value of around ₹2,040 crore, providing strong revenue visibility for the coming years and reinforcing customer confidence in its automotive component portfolio.

Acquisition of Hindustan Composites’ Friction Business

The company announced a Business Transfer Agreement to acquire the Friction Business of Hindustan Composites Limited through a slump sale.

The acquisition is expected to:

  • Expand Rane’s brake components portfolio
  • Strengthen manufacturing capabilities
  • Improve market presence in the friction products segment

The transaction is subject to customary regulatory approvals and is expected to close before the end of the current quarter.

Continued Investment in Manufacturing

During Q1 FY27, Rane invested ₹6.2 crore in capital expenditure.

Most of the investment was directed toward expanding and strengthening:

  • Steering systems
  • Linkages
  • Brake components manufacturing

These investments support future capacity expansion and operational improvements.

Expense Highlights

While revenue expanded significantly, expenses remained well managed.

Major expense trends included:

  • Material costs increased in line with higher production volumes.
  • Employee expenses rose modestly by 6%.
  • Finance costs declined 9%.
  • Other operating expenses increased due to business expansion.
  • Depreciation rose following ongoing capital investments.

Overall, total expenses increased at a slower pace than profitability, allowing operating margins to improve.

Management Outlook

The company’s Q1 FY27 performance demonstrates resilient execution amid a challenging operating environment.

Key growth drivers expected over the coming quarters include:

  • Continued recovery in domestic automotive demand
  • Strong export opportunities
  • Growth in the aftermarket business
  • Integration of the Hindustan Composites friction business
  • Execution of the ₹2,040 crore order pipeline
  • Ongoing investments in manufacturing capacity and operational efficiency

With improving profitability, disciplined cost management, and strategic acquisitions, Rane (Madras) appears well positioned for sustained long-term growth in India’s automotive components sector.
